Mr. Kenneth L. McAllister
District Sales Manager
Florida Solite Corporation
P.O. Box 297
Green Cove Springs, FL 32043
Dear Mr. McAllister,
I am writing in response to a recent phone conversation with Craig Caster
in your office. I have analyzed an 8"x8"x16" concrete masonry unit with foamed-in-place
insulation. The results are summarized below:
Density
(pcf) |
R-value
(hr.ft2.*F/Btu) |
| 95 |
7.0 |
| 135 |
3.9 |
- calculation method: series-parallel (isothermal planes)
- insulation fills all voids of the block, and has a thermal resitivity
of 4.6 hr.ft2.*F/Btu.in.
- calculated value includes indoor and outdoor air surface resistances of
.68 and .17 hr.ft2.*F/Btu, respectively.
- conductivity of concrete is based on dry concrete
- one head and one bed joint are included in the calculation.
The other calculations you requested are attached. If you have any questions,
or need further information, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Maribeth S. Bradfield
Energy Engineer
